New York, New York

I’m back!! I know, I know I haven’t written in awhile, but my life has been pretty busy lately. I made the smart decision to start a brand new job (my first big kid job, yay!) and start a grad school course all within the same week. And they both started the week after I passed my RD exam. Smart right?!?! But, I made it through! Got an A and love my new job, so I say it’s a win, win! Now lets get to the food…

Today, I am going to introduce a new Picky Girl series – 50 by 50. Have you ever heard of this challenge? If you haven’t, it basically is that you do 50 things by the time you turn 50. My 50 by 50 challenge to myself is to visit all 50 states (I have always wanted to do this)! However, of course I have to put a foodie twist into this challenge…in each of these states I plan to visit a farmer’s market (you all know how much I love my farmer’s markets!) or visit some famous food establishment in that state. I just turned 23, so I have about 27 more years to complete my goal. Hopefully, I can accomplish my goal within that time period! And along the way, I plan to share my journey on my blog with all of you. Not sure if when I’m 50 I’ll still have this blog (I hope so, but who knows where the world will take me?), but I’ll share all of my journeys for as long as I can ๐Ÿ™‚

So, without further ado my first state is…New York! A few weekends ago my mom, sister, aunt, some other friends, and I took the ultimate “Foodie” bus trip to NYC. It was an absolute blast!!! Definitely one of the highlights of the summer. And I think I may still be full from everything that I ate!

First stop was Carlo’s Bake Shop for cannolis, cupcakes, and lobster tails:

Next stop Chelsea Market, which was the cutest indoor market I’ve ever seen. There was a spice store, bakeries, flowers, homemade pasta, tacos, seafood, wine, and a number of other things. We didn’t get to spend too much time here unfortunately, but I did get to try ย bone broth and cactus tacos! Both were pretty good, however I think that the broth would definitely be better in colder weather and the tacos were a bit spicy! But, both were good and at least I tried them right? The homemade pasta that we brought home was AMAZING!!!

C Market

Next stop the Pickle Guys, where they had the most pickled things that I have ever seen:

Last stop of the day was Little Italy, which I think was by far my favorite! Delicious ๐Ÿ™‚

We finished the day with a fantastically fun Italian dinner in Little Italy. We all ordered different foods and then passed them all around so that we could try everything. All of it was amazing!!!

I enjoyed the day with these ladies! It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

Also, taking suggestions on where to go in each state ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope that you enjoyed the post, stay tuned for more foodie trips and recipes ๐Ÿ™‚
